We try to have special time (which is one on one time) with the kids every week – and we actually do it about a third of the time – 20 to 30 minutes of one on one time with just mom or dad. This year, for the first time, we accomplished a date together with Mom and Dad for each kid. We wanted to do one a month – but that didn’t happen – it’s a work in progress people! I took photos during Callie’s special time.
We went to Buffalo Grill for Chicken wings. They style themselves as a place that serves American food. Check out the dessert menu…. First we have Hits ‘So American!” and then the photo of the donut served on a bed of chocolate sauce with a scoop of ice cream… Then we have the Fruités “So fruity!” and don’t forget the “American Profiteroles!” Me thinks you could never find any of these things in an actual restaurant in America…
After lunch, we headed to a place we had visited another time where they grow rose bushes to sell. Since gorgeous roses were in bloom all over town, I figured this place would just be an entire field bursting with color. I may not have gotten tulips – but why not roses? I guess because I am cursed. Here is what we got.
But, if there is only one lesson our family takes away from France it might be – deal. We decided not to let this spoil our time and headed towards the Source d’Arcier. We opted to take a new path than we did the last visit. It was steep and rugged, but very fun to try to climb. We gave up before we reached the top, since special time was running out. Daddy was not too happy about that…
We saw lots of great nature stuff – the second plant is columbine and the last is wild garlic. I was totally obsessed with wildflower identification at this time last year, but I seem to have gotten over it – and also to have forgotten most of what I learned. We also even saw a real wild deer – a first for me and Callie while in France (André sees them when he runs through the woods sometimes). Can you see it in the photo below?
It was a fun time together – maybe we’ll make it again some month!
